Food allergies can be serious even life-threatening. Most prepared foods list major allergens like eggs, milk, soy, and wheat, but there can be a warning in fine print about cross-contamination by other allergens.
A new trend to eliminate the need for a cross-contamination warning is adding the allergens to the food. This is convenient for the food maker, but reduces the variety available to consumers with food allergies.
